Examples of family trees by Tomas Bragesjö

Introduction

One area of use for coats of arms is to use them at family trees. Heraldry and genealogy often go hand in hand to identify who is allowed to carry a coat of arms. Many noble family trees have the coat arms of the ancestors on top of the names. I show here three examples found at Wikipedia as public domain pictures.

Less formal

Non noble families may have less formal drawings. Below is an example of the my (Tomas Bragesjö) family tree drawn by Magnus Bäckmark. Instead of coat of arms at the top, there are banners that show the landscapes in which the oldest listed members lived.

The sledge with the wheat sheaf at the top shows my crest, which uses elements from Ryssnäs-släktens coat of arms that is entered at that position.
